Peaches
The scientific name of the peach tree is Prunus persica. It originates from China; from there it spread to Persia and Asia Minor, and it became known in Greece around 400–300 BC.
The peach tree thrives in temperate climates, with winter temperatures not dropping below -15°C and summer temperatures not exceeding 35°C.
Naoussa has proven to be an ideal location for peach cultivation. The city is renowned for its peach production, as it offers the right soil and climate conditions. Combined with the dedication and experience of our growers, this results in an outstanding fruit (peach) with a rich aroma, distinctive flavor, and excellent durability, as it is packed in the orchard by the producer.
Quality
It is also important that, following the restructuring of varieties in recent years, the best table peach varieties are now being produced.
As a result, Naoussa peaches have been recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product—the only ones in Greece and among the very few in Europe.
The production season can cover a large share of demand, running from late May through late October.
